Laniakea
Inspired by Laniakea —meaning ‘immeasurable heaven’—this project explores the idea that the universe is not separate from us, but intrinsically connected to our bodies, movements, and presence.
I designed a sculptural, movement-responsive costume composed of flexible tubular forms connected directly to the performer’s body. As the performer moved, the structure shifted and reconfigured around them, reflecting the notion that we exist within the universe and that it exists within us.
The performance incorporated a large digital screen linked to the performer’s movement. The visuals responded in real time, reinforcing the idea that human motion and cosmic systems are part of the same continuous network. Together, the body, costume, and projection formed a unified system that expressed our physical and conceptual connection to the universe.
